Meet Our Clergy

Rabbi Michael Gold

A native of Los Angeles, Rabbi Gold received his BA in mathematics from the University of California at San Diego. He received his ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary in 1979 and his PhD from Florida Atlantic University with a dissertation on process philosophy and Jewish mysticism

Rabbi Gold is both a rabbi and a professor of ethics, philosophy, and religion. He teaches at Miami Dade College and Broward College in Florida and Charter Oak College in Connecticut. He has developed courses for all three colleges including the Introduction to Ethics course at Broward Online College. Rabbi Gold is the author of eight books most recently Does the Universe Have a Soul? He has developed four courses on udemy.com, most recently Why is Murder Wrong? A Study of Philosophical Ethics.

Prior to coming to Beth Shalom, Rabbi Gold served as the Senior Rabbi at Temple Beth Torah in Tamarac, Florida for 32 years.  He also served congregations in Pittsburgh and Upper Nyack, NY.

Rabbi Michael and Evelyn Gold are the parents of three children and one grandchild.

Cantor Sagee Goldenholz

Our own Cantor Goldenholz was born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up surrounded by Jewish music.  He began his musical education at age five studying classical piano.  At the early age of 19, Sagee began his career as a Cantor and soon after he was appointed to his first pulpit in South Florida.  He has performed with the Florida Grand Opera, Palm Beach Opera and in various concerts and recitals throughout Florida and abroad.  He is a graduate of the University of Miami and he and his wife, Shera, have three children.
